I don't think you did. I'm pretty sure both of my Type II's came from junkyard foraging. If you have an extra one, I'd like it as a spare. I have one spare now, but if I break the one that's in the car, I'll have zero spares... and that's not good.

Obviously, I took it easy on the launch so I didn't break an axle twice as far from home base as I was at Sumerduck.
+6 MPH vs. the first engine's best trap speed... power's definitely there. I think some of that comes from the 1.02 vs. 0.94 fourth gear, as I wouldn't have expected a <2 mph advantage at the 1/8 to turn into a 6 mph advantage in the 1/4.

MIR was bat shit insane Sunday... There was a swap meet as well as one of the last test/tune days of the season. I didn't make it there as early as I would have liked. I only made two runs, but missed 2nd gear in my second run, so it wasn't any good. If I had gotten there right as the gates opened and gotten set up, I could have had 3 runs by mid-afternoon... but missed the first two sessions in which the groups were not as heavily populated as they were later.

Tech initially gave me guff about my cracked 1/4 windows, so I had to rip those off before they'd let me run. I need to remove them anyway in order to install the replacements, so I don't consider it a big deal. I'm not sure if the car looks more or less ghetto now.

There was a blown nitro funny car that made a couple of runs... 6.20 @ 234 was the faster of the two. If you've never seen A blown nitro car run, go see one. It's a rare treat, like seeing an F-14 do an aerobatic display at an air show... And like the F-14, the nitro car makes the ground shake.

I hate to say it, but I'm sooooo glad I decided not to go due to the crowds. 9 hours for 25 seconds of fun is not my idea of a good time. However, I'm very glad you got at least a full trap before the season ended. Now to get those axles bulletproofed for next spring...

[bench racing]I just checked the 'official' Camaro5 fast list ( http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21013 ), looks like your traps were right at the fast end of bone-stock SS traps, fastest 1/8 being 88.7mph, and fastest 1/4 being a 113.2mph. Average seems to be about 86mph and 110mph respectively for the LS3 cars, so I figure you'd edge out a stock LS3 Camaro for most of the sane speeds, then lose some ground heading toward terminal velocity. I'd like to run ours from a roll, I think it might be very close seeing as how the lighter wheels/tires and CAI both noticeably improved my top end pull. Then again, since you have to launch like a pansy and my tires are stickier than stock, maybe I'd get you from a dig, too. :P [/bench racing]

Of course, we have a long way to go before we even hope to reach for the Talon's best numbers. Natural aspiration *sucks*. :crazy:

With confidence in my driveline, I think I could knock 0.6-0.8 off my ET... Stick that in your LS3 and smoke it. :P

With that much confidence in your driveline, you won't even get an ET. :lol:

If I stick anything in my LS3, it will be too much boost... That'll smoke it. :-D

Cutting a 1.7 would knock 0.4 off my ET right away, not even considering how improving the 60 improves the rest of the pass...

But of course with bullet proof axles, the 282 would be living on borrowed time, even with the later stronger diff.
I need to put a higher priority on killing my wheel hop. Now that I have a clutch that can take advantage of my potential traction, wheel hop is a problem.

I looked at your thread and fastest stock trap I saw was 111.

On the first list (stock M6), the 8th fastest lists 113.27mph.

Good times considering your 60'. Picking up 25mph on the top end is good too. I only picked up 20mph with my turbo 3.4. You can only improve, and yoru mph shows that you can really drop that ET. FYI, Oreif on the other forum went 12.4 at 110 so with a 1.8 60' you should be able to get right around that.

What rpm were you at when you shifted from 3 to 4?

6400 RPM shift points.
My tach reads 6000 on the limiter, but I know from the dyno that the limiter's higher than that. I need to take a minute to calibrate the tach using the scan tool.

Next big modification will be installing the Shelby computer... That will let me turn it to 7k and have it tuned. At this point, a tune could be worth 20 HP.

Also weighed the car: 2895 withOUT me in it. I have the separate front and rear numbers, but not in front of me.

That also includes spare tire and jumper cables up front, with a couple of gallons of fluids in the trunk, my helmet in the seat and about half a tank of fuel.

I used it to make new lines for my 3.4 DOHC Fiero. The only problem I've had with it is that it's a bit bulky, so it's sometimes hard to get around lines that run close together.

So there's a bolt-in axle available for the right side of an F40 installation, but not for the left side. Either custom shaft or shortened and resplined G6 axles are the only current options. As well, the shafts are different lengths than the shafts for the 282.

However, the side-gear spline and insertion depth for the inner CV joints into the transmission are both different than for the 282, so the GM Racing output flanges won't work. If I spend money on a 282 axle build-up, I won't be able to transfer the parts to the F40 installation I'm planning.

The original engine picked up 19.9 mph in the back half, so yeah, 24.3 mph in the back half with the new engine is a significant improvement.
