Still have a bunch of interior pieces, exterior and misc. stuff that I really need gone now that I moved into a place with no garage.
Let me know!

Re: Measuring Chassis Torsional Rigidity
Any pics are appreciated! The lack of ties ins from the frame rails to the lower part of the center tunnel seem to a be a weak point, theorectically. How to effectively make that center tunnel a closed box is the real question. Haven't made a huge amount of progress on a fixture for measuring stiffn...

I have a console, and the black plastic frame part that goes under it. The console color is tan.

88 Interior parts and misc.
I have a whole bunch of interior parts(grey and tan), a hood(fading black), decklid(red), rear fascia(red) and a buch of misc. parts from my current fiero and a parts car I was stealing parts from. I can take pics on request, ask me if I have something and I will get back. Just trying to clear out a...

Re: Measuring Chassis Torsional Rigidity
Fieroguru, where did you get those pics? I agree that using the front cradle installed seems like the most real world test because it transmits all the suspension loads to the rest of the chassis. The center tunnel shear panel is on the list to test, its execution is something entirely different. A ...

Re: Measuring Chassis Torsional Rigidity
Was waiting for Will to post, seems he is one of the only ones to bite on posts like these... 5000 ftlbs per degree, isn't as bad as I thought it might be but I have searched for a source and no one has anything I can find. Found lots of Lotus cars specs though. I know that I will have to use the su...

Measuring Chassis Torsional Rigidity
**Been a while since I have had much to say on here about my own car because its been just sitting around. Getting school finished and my career established, along with just life getting in the way of having time to play with my own cars are a few things that have kept my project from progressing. N...

No, just experienced it a number of time on some of the old turds that roll in the door.

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.
Why have both unless they're used for different purposes? My guess is that the use the 4x (1x per ignition event) for ignition and injection triggering because the 4 and 6 cylinder DIS units already worked that way and they knew they could make it work (They already had the software for it). The 1x...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.
My understanding was that the ignition and injection are still triggered off the 4x and the 24x is for misfire detection (detect crankshaft speed transients when a cylinder fires by having six impulses between events instead of 1). The ICM pushes a 50% DC square wave derived from the CPS signal. Al...

Re: Exhaust Gas Recirculation / Inert Gas Injection
I can imagine... not sure what engineers were thinking when they developed that. I guess they didn't realize that exhaust gases contain soot and carbon... It's not like EGR tubes can get coked up on high mileage engines or anything... The current FSi Audis have trouble with carbon deposits o...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.
Ya, I have been a stranger, my laptops HD failed and I have been spending about 200% too much time in other peoples garages working on their cars for them than in my garage on my projects...so I have been out but I try to pop in when I can. The ICM creates a 4X (cam) and a 24X(crank) signal and send...

Re: Saab '03-'04 6 speed ratios & RPO
Totally forgot about Trifecta....they are in my neck of the woods. I actually inquired to them about doing a DI Ecotec swap and they could unlock that ECM for me. That project might still be on the table. One thing that turned me off though was that there is no support for doing your own tuning for ...

Re: Exhaust Gas Recirculation / Inert Gas Injection
That is cool that you swapped heads, those EGR slots are nightmare-ish on high mileage engines.

Re: Exhaust Gas Recirculation / Inert Gas Injection
The whole idea behind EGR is that it's not *supposed* to be be reactive. It's supposed to be inert material introduced into the intake tract to reduce pumping losses. The EPA likes it because it keeps peak combustion temperature down and NOx formation along with. The detonation problem comes from t...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.
In addition to getting started on the 2.5" stainless X-pipe exhaust that I realized I could fit, I swapped out a couple of coil packs. The "ignition drops" I've mentioned before were getting pretty bad. The car was difficult to drive in higher gears below 2000 RPM under load and pret...

Re: Saab '03-'04 6 speed ratios & RPO
Will, were you thinking of using a OEM ECM for this swap? The Bosch ECM's are quite finicky as far as getting into the code to turn off theft deterrent systems but I believe they switched to a Delphi sourced ECM in '10 or "11. Motec is working on a controller box for the high voltage requiremen...
