What's that behind the ZR1? Semi? I dunno if it is how you phrased it, Aaron, but those spiffy shocks were developed by GM, used first on the Caddys. Neat shit. I wonder if the mark up on the Z06s is going to go away with the ZR1 intro. Might make one affordable to me....

So the cooling system operated as intended? A vast majority of all overheats are caused by coolant loss, not the user abusing the vehicle. GM has to test cooling system to a more extreme than what you just did.

In my '02 Z28, I could get high 20s, sometimes 30 just cruising around 70 mph. In my '06 GTO with long tubes, high flow cats, cat back, tune and CAI, I can only squeeze out 24 mpg. Around the same before it was modded.

What's wrong with alpha-N? It still uses a g/sec value, but it's calculated instead of measured. Calculated based upon assumptions, meaning inaccuracy. How inaccurate I have no clue, must not be much at all. Though it isn't like MAF or MAP sensors are perfect anyways. Obviously the A-N int he BMW i...

What's wrong with alpha-N? It still uses a g/sec value, but it's calculated instead of measured. If they can do that and still run with current emissions standards, then good for them. An interesting note, the V8 twin turbo uses dual mass air flows while the 3.0L TT does not.

And a $30K Isuzu: http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20010423/FREE/104230765 (Knew I'd read that someplace...) Neat article, I knew Harley was experimenting, but didn't know it had it running yet. It also renders pre cat o2 sensors useless (for BMW at least, they are there as a back...

The only other engine to use the ionic current system besides BMW is the V12 in the Ferrari Enzo, and its derivatives. With ionic current monitoring, the pre cat O2s are pointless. The Bugatti does it. That engine has too many cylinders to detect misfires via crankshaft speed transients. I *think* ...

The instructor told us that the M5 motor is good up till 14,000 rpm, but wouldn't have longevity. Don't know if I believe it though. Not likely. It might make it there once, as it is throwing rods through the block and self destructing. Large displacement car engines are not built to go that high. ...

A couple points of interest about the M5, which should carry over to the M3 engine: it takes three 32 bit processors to make it run, making over 200 million calculations a second. The only other engine to use the ionic current system besides BMW is the V12 in the Ferrari Enzo, and its derivatives. W...

Fiero ECM in a Camaro

I still have the ECM from my Fiero, an '87 2.8 w/ 5 speed. My friends '87 Camaro is giving him all sorts of issues at the moment but all the sensors seem to be reading correctly. Can I just pop my ECM into his car? Or do I need to switch the chips? I haven't worked on stuff this old in a while, help...

I think once the kits come out, people will flock to the turbo options. It took APS this long to get an F-body kit out, and now CF guys left and right are ditching their setups to go to APS. I wouldn't be surprised if APS gets a TT kit out within a few years for the V. The intakes are awful on the ...

There are shock/acceleration sensors in the front end of the car that detect a frontal collision. The airbag controller then triggers and *explosive charge* that provides high pressure hot gas which inflates the airbag. Most cars require two sensors to register a crash before an airbag will go off....

Skip the Mallett, do the work yourself. You could build up the motor out of the wrecked one and then swap it over to the new one. Same with the tranny and diff. Your paying alot there for the name and non-performance stuff. Just my .02
