Re: 60* V6 Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel
In your first pic, you can see where the aluminum was flowing out from under the small contact ring on the bottom side of the bolt head You want this contact area to be as wide as possible on aluminum, so you might try using some flanged head bolts like this. https://www.mcmaster.com/#98093a624/=1a4...

Re: Saab '03-'04 6 speed ratios & RPO
Originally, I got some quotes through Fed Ex, but they wanted about $500 to ship it. Through Uship the lowest quote was $378 with Freight World Wide which is who I went with. Freight World Wide outsourced the load to EB Cargo, who outsourced the load to TNT - who actually picked up the transmission....

Re: LS4 build
Looks like a fun build! I am curious to see the final result. Given the durability of the Gen IV LS engines and how inexpensive they are to buy used, I wouldn't touch the bottom end and focus all your efforts on the intake, heads, camshaft, and exhaust. How did you figure out the wet sleeve issue? R...

Re: Saab '03-'04 6 speed ratios & RPO
I purchased a 2009 F40 with the 3.09 final drive in the UK and should have it in couple of weeks. I could have purchased a 2013-2017 one with the 3.09, but I wanted to stay as close to the 2006 year of the MT2 to reduce the chances for a significant design change. There are a lot of Insignias with t...

Re: Saab '03-'04 6 speed ratios & RPO
Couldn't get it to turn on or couldn't get it to drive right when engaged? Couldn't get it to turn on. There are about 30 things that have to be within a specified range to work and I think I narrowed the issue down to the brake switch, as it goes through the BCM and uses the Can/Bus wires to send ...

Re: Saab '03-'04 6 speed ratios & RPO
0.62 * 3.09 = 1.91 0.50 * 3.42 = 1.71 With a 3.09 and the 0.62 sixth, that would be really close to the cruise gear of an LS1 Camaro/C5 Corvette or the like. Admittedly, they run tall tires, especially compared to 285/30-18's. Does your cam leave you with enough low end to pull a gear that tall? Fr...

Re: Saab '03-'04 6 speed ratios & RPO
I have the gearing I desire at this point, at least the closest the F40 can get me with what's easily obtainable. Just providing the internet with another possible option. I know there are those strange people that build low revving V8 engines and try to squeeze all the MPGs they can out of them, a...

Re: Saab '03-'04 6 speed ratios & RPO
I might have to do more digging as I would love to have a 3.0 final drive for my not-so-low revving V8 and would shoot for 30+ mpg.

It would be cool if you could order that final drive setup through a GM dealership.

Re: How do YOU guys jack up the car
Pictures of my jack comparison and clearance to my fiero are near the bottom of this page: http://www.fiero.com/forum/Forum3/HTML/000123-30.html The jack weighs 93 lbs, so it isn't for travel use. When I go on trips and want to bring a jack, I used an OEM jack from a 97 full size Chevy Silverado 4x4...

Re: How do YOU guys jack up the car
I love my new harbor freight jack. It is super low (2 5/8"), is very long, lifts quite high (23 3/4")... but is quite heavy. http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-low-profilelong-reach-steel-heavy-duty-floor-jack-with-rapid-pump-60678.html Since I relocated the rear cradle crossmember to incr...

You might want to verify the thickness of the rotor hats as they could be slightly different and will impact the caliper bracket thickness.

Re: DHP vs hptuners vs obd1
The processing speed of the OBD1 ecms (parameter logging capability and speed it can detect knock and change timing/fueling) is something of an order of magnitude slower (depends on which OBD2 ecms - the E series ecms are very, very fast even when compared to other OBD2 ecms). The processing speed a...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.
That's part of the reason I went with Potenza RE-11. They had a 235/40/17 and 285/30/18. I really wanted something in the 225 range, but I couldn't find the right front/rear combo from any mfg.

anyone running a 5x4.5" wheel pattern? JIms88 installed the 5 x 115mm LS4 W-body wheel bearing into the 88 rear uprights. He ended up redrilling them the to the 5 x 4.5" pattern in is LS4 install thread, but kept the fronts stock 5 x 100mm (although they could easily be drilled to match t...

Did raising the rails to put the door less than 1" from the ceiling not get you enough room? Something like this (second pic): http://www.cowtowndoors.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Before-and-After-High-Lift.jpg I am almost done with all the "house work" on our new place and wil...
