Re: CRX K-AWD Rally-X Car Build
I'm quietly watching this, it looks like a really fun build. Despite the vast majority of them being WWD, Honda makes good cars, has good hardware and the aftermarket for them is very broad. There are a lot of fun looking Honda builds out there. for sure, I wasn't trying to imply otherwise, I just ...

FWIW, the stock 84-87 UCA pivot axis is angled out(toe out if you will) about 0.5 degrees. Is that intentional or just production variation on your crossmember? that's an important point, my sample size is 1, if you or anyone else has one to measure, I would love to see the if there is any correlat...

Re: suspension engineering.
FWIW, the stock 84-87 UCA pivot axis is angled out(toe out if you will) about 0.5 degrees. I'm going to try and get complete dimensions for the stock parts prior to developing anything to replace them, in the mean time, I'm trying to come up with design parameters, and so far, I have 2 non geometry ...

I was able to sneak some garage time today, I stripped the 454 down, carb, distributor, exhaust manifolds, accessories, radiator, and a few other odds and ends have all been pulled, it's ready to pull with the exception of the bellhousing bolts, the torque converter bolts, the oil cooler lines, and ...

in other news, a guy on facebook offered to trade extension housings with me, that will make my 4x4 A1000 into a 2WD A1000 I finally got around to getting this packaged and ready to ship, UPS wanted $470+ to ship the tailhousing... ! I looked on marketplace and there are several examples of 2wd A10...

I've been revisiting the idea of using my 3D scanner for more than just a paperweight, so I imported a scan into OnShape, and began messing around, unfortunately, I'm having trouble figuring out how to align the scan data in some kind of useful manner, I would prefer to "snap" the scan dat...

I threw some of the special bolts in the lifters, they're still a little tight, might take a little more finesse to get them perfect. I have a bunch to do this week, without considering hurricane cleanup, so I probably won't get around to a test fit. Assuming test fit goes according to plan, I'll ca...

the cap to alot of penetrants has little tabs for holding the straw in after taking it out of the tape. also, FWIW, you can take the WD40 flip straw off a WD40 can and put it on not WD40 if you so desire. but in reality, I understand the sentiment. it sucks not to have something little like that to ...

I like the heater tube mod, it's a pretty clean way to reduce bulk in the engine bay. nice work! I'd like to see more details on the vapor canister. Are you sure it's not the brake booster flexing? On my 88 I get 0.035" vertical deflection of the brake master cylinder with full pedal force. As ...

Start with desired behaviors, then move to problems preventing desired behaviors, then start considering parts Gordon Murray said that the automotive problem is fundamentally one of packaging. The package is important, and if there are parts I intend to use, they need to be considered, in this case...

the rest of the special bolts showed up, but so did a hurricane, so no progress for a minute... I'm also trying to look into genuine improvements to the front suspension.

Re: suspension engineering.
so, I've been working on a set of modular knuckles for the front of my car, and that has led me down a new path... I have a 86-87 front crossmember here in the shop, it wouldn't take much to measure the mounting points, and develop a suitable replacement. The idea in my head is to start with the par...

I hadn't gotten around to measuring travel and control arm angles yet, that is one of the changes planned for the next revision.

SNAFU. with the ball joint boss in the stock location, and the hub oriented with one bolt down, the boss blocks access to one of the bolts... https://i.imgur.com/FVk8Xf5.png An attempt to rotate the hub pattern in CAD resulted about 10 million errors, so I decided I would more or less start from scr...

slow night at work, so I reworked things a bit... I don't think this is a bad idea yet, but I would love to hear thoughts, my current plan is a modular assembly for the front spindles, these would provide 1.5" of drop from stock. The current idea, is a hub and caliper carrier, that bolts to a s...

Re: custom chassis/suspension considerations.
the other day, I measured the ball joint locations on a spare spindle I have, then I imported the measurements into CAD and started designing a custom front knuckle. This one will be designed around stock geometry with the exception of shifting the hub up 1.5" to drop the car. I'm trying to mak...
