Re: Getting started: tuning and coding obd2
found a disassembler: https://www.hex-rays.com/products/ida/support/download_freeware.shtml appears to work fine, but I'm still learning what all is going on in there... Edit: works, but can't handle as many processors as our PCM's use... this appears to be a good read on the subject: http://www.thi...

Re: progress on the banshee...
exhaust is 99% complete, just need to put the slashcut in, and a flex coupling. should have pics tomorrow.
LC1 is mounted, and the wires routed, still needs to be wired up, but for the most part it's done.

Re: Plastic air filter housing
I checked out the truck airbox today, and as I imagined, it's way to big. next time I'm out in the junkyard I'll keep a better eye out for you.

Re: Plastic air filter housing
the late 90's Chevy trucks have a nice plastic air cleaner housing. not sue how well it would fit, I'll try to get a pic for you later today.

Re: progress on the banshee...
well... today was a bust. ended up spending the day re-doing the intercooler bracket because it was making it a bitch to run the oil drain from the turbo to the pan. now instead of coming off the side of the block inbetween the a/c compressor and the starter, it's in front of the a/c compressor. I'l...

mostly complete can, made almost entirely of scrap: http://i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr98/ericjon262/car%20shit/fiero/headers/turbo/2013-04-27_23-01-43_553.jpg I also got the downpipe welded up, and the WG bump integrated. all that's left in the exhaust is the slashcut, Vband on the muffler, and t...

Re: The Mule rides again (sort of) - pics.
Then again, maybe there's some better-documented disassembly than what I had dealt with. Good luck finding it for OBD2 stuff. There seems to be much reluctance in the OBD2 community for people to share disassemblies. I've never understood why obd2 info is so "Top Secret". I guess knowledg...

Re: 3.4 DOHC issues
I wasn't referring to the angle job, I was referring to the port job, if the port job was done by a shop(or individual) who knows what they were doing, and could prove the gains, then yes, I would use the existing heads. If it was done by and amateur who just thinks "bigger is better" then...

Getting started: tuning and coding obd2
Do any of you guys know of any good reading/info on how to manipulate obd2 PCM data and coding? I'm working on my 3500 swap Fiero, and I see all kinds of unused inputs and outputs on the PCM connectors that could be put to use, but the current programming doesn't allow it, so I'd like to learn how t...

Re: 3.4 DOHC issues
who did the port work? a reputable shop, or the guy who fubared the timing twice? it would probably be more cost effective to get a second motor, and rebuild one that you don't have to replace half the valves in. I've heard of TDC "crate engines" being available, I've never seen one for sa...

Re: progress on the banshee...
Stopped raining long enough for me to get a little bit of work done on the downpipe. http://i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr98/ericjon262/car%20shit/fiero/headers/turbo/2013-04-24_19-56-56_668.jpg routing wise, the downpipe is done. I'm going to add a flex pipe in the straight section right before the...

Re: progress on the banshee...
issue turned out to be with the PCM power, the PCM I am using needed two IGN+, I only had one. now everything works as prescribed. I got a bunch of parts in today, including some of the drain fittings for the turbo... http://i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr98/ericjon262/car%20shit/fiero/headers/turbo/...

A/C muffler?
I a under the impression that the can on the A/C lines just behind the compressor is some kind of "muffler" I'm getting ready to make a set of custom A/C lines for my 3500 swap, and I was wondering if that can is necessary, or if it's just a NVH band aid.
Thanks-
Eric
