Well for one, i'd be happy with the 2.8L in my car if it came that way from factory since it's a big i'm provment over the 2.5L in my car. But I'm looking and eging swaps and i really like the 3.4L DOHC but can you put a supercharger on it or a turbo? other option was the 3800 S/C which solves the boost issue but i want a DOHC engine(higher revving, better sound, and more horsepower N/A let alone with boost.) But I'd believe stock 0-60 times with the 2.8 would be around 8 seconds with the automatic, not so sure about the manual, depends on which model tranny and how quick the driver can shift efficiently.
It's a never ending project... That I may never get to start.

I used to have an 85 GT with an auto tranny. I had ported stock exh manifolds, a Power pulley, and home made CAI. According to my g-tech I ran anywhere from 7.6-8 0-60 times pending on weather conditions. Yea its a Gtech so take that for what its worth but its better then a stop watch. THis was oh like 8 years ago or so.
A dohc would be a good swap. Esp if you have a v6 in it now. You would already have all the mounts and such to do it. Almost a straight bolt in affair. There are several on here who could also help talk you through it if you needed help as the members here have done the swap or in the middle of one right now.
Matt Hawkins boosted his dohc motor and made 390 whp on only 13 lbs of boost which just goes to show how well that motor takes to boost.
