product1620 wrote:Well, the last couple days iv'e been working on the fiero and trying some things out. I'm doing a hood vent; in fact ive already cut it out, I just need to finish sanding it. While I was working on the hood I kept thinking about other problem areas for trapt air. One that really stuck out was the rear bumper. I know of some drag racers who vent their rear bumper so as to allow the air that gets trapt from underneath the car to be vented. so what I did today was I took a two inch drill bit (the circluar ones used for makeing door knob holes) and put three holes on each side of the lower bumper near the tag. My question is do you think this will do a sufficient job of venting the traped air???

My camara's battery was dead today, so I will try to get pics tomowrow.
Are you thinking of something like a 355 Ferrari uses in their rear bumper to reduce drag?

I did this to provide better cooling for the exhaust and the rear of the engine compartment (trunk has been removed):

See the vents to the sides of the plate? I just cut some nice holes with a dremel and put the grilles in. They do work but the plastic bumper support piece also has to have some holes drilled in it to improve airflow.

I don't think bumper vents like these will make any difference at all if you still have the trunk. If I recall correctly the trunk goes lower than the bumper, so there isn't airflow between the bumper and rear side of the trunk.

Series, I got rid of the lower part of the trunk as well, and I did put holes in the plastic piece thats attached to the bumper support. I did mine similar to yours, except I have a GT bumper so the vents are farther up (right beside the tag). I took some pics today, but I forgot my camera at the shop so expect pics probably tomowrow afternoon.

Me no likey.
Cut those out into rectangular-ish shapes like I did. Add grills. Add trim moulding. It will look better and have more airflow.

eventually I'll probably add some molding on the rear vents to make them look more professional, but for right now it works.

Eh, it doesn't really jive with the GT rear fascia. There isn't enough slope on the back to make it look right; they're too bold.
