picked up a Trans Am

Post by slow'n'steady »

Just picked me up an '88 Trans Am. 5.7L W/ 5 speed trans
Cowl hood, Corvette rally rims, alpine deck (old junky one) MTX subs/amp, fresh paint (still needs cut/buffed)
engine is probably 7 out of 10 (has 20K on rebuild)
body/frame/all exterior is 9-9.5 out of 10
interior is like 4-5 out of 10 ; ( (cleaned it up a little, some paint/carpet and trim pieces she'll be 100%)
dont have many pics yet. heres what i do have...

Was it originally a 5 speed or originally a 5.7?

Did the previous owner swap in the 5.7? From the factory you could only get 305 cars with 5spds because the T-5 wasnt strong enough for the 350.

I knew a guy here with a 5.7 and the T5 5 spd mated to it in his 3rd gen. he had broken around 4 or 5 trannies already before I met him. I think he broke another one after that and I think he said fuck it and went to the auto.

I raced him. He had a modified 350 with quite a few mods. I pulled him a few cars but it was decently quick.

So dont' race it unless you want to break trannies. its like a 350 behind a fiero manual tranny. You try to race it and it will break. You drive it around the city like most of the geezers on .nl with V8' and the tranny will last a decent amount of time.

Its an original 5 speed. 350 was swapped in a little while back.

I've raced a few times already and havent broke it yet...

alltrbo here has done a T56 swap into 3rd Gen (I did it with him). It wasn't hard and it's a great setup.

A friend of mine has a stock 1LE 92 formula 350 auto that runs 14 flat in the quarter. Keep in mind that the car has absolutely no options at all and under 20K miles.

edited to say I am not a tpi fan, I was just saying they will beat the shit out of stock fieros.

Yeah, they put down double the WHP of a Fiero and only weigh 600# more.
