Still getting a TPS code?

21 TPS voltage was above 3.78 volts for 1.25 seconds.

Dunno, I had a COMPLETELY DEAD (as tested) TPS, and managed to get the motor started anyways, if you're just trying to get it started.

Are you running the A/T chip? When you jumper the P/N switch wire to ground, it thinks you're in P/N and sets a rev limiter at 3K. Leaving it floating makes it think you're in drive, and ups your idle, to boot. This thing sez code 21 means TPS - high voltage. It could possibly be a consequence of trying to keep it lit at WOT, though it was barely running.

Get a pack of aligator clip wires to test. Make sure you're getting +5 and ground from the harness, to start with, if not, fix it. Then plug clip wires into the +5 and ground and to the right pins on the sensor, then measure the signal output from the remaining pin and ground. CAREFUL, don't let it short out. Check the signal as you go through the range of motion. Yank and pull on the wiring to check for intermittents. Use a volt meter to check your wiring.

You forgot to put the new cover sheet on that TPS.

I'll go ahead and make sure you get another copy of that memo.

Sorry, i moved a few weeks ago and just got my internet hooked up.
Yes, good fuel pressure

Now i have a weird situation for you. The first time I tried to time the engine, i though the #4 cyl. was directly across form the #1 cyl. (obviuosly i now know it is not). The funny thing is that when i timed the engine thinking that the #2 cyl. was actualy the #4 cyl. The car would start and run, wouldnt run great, but i did get to take it for a few drives. Of course it had virtualy NO power, but it did start/run and drive.

I am starting to wonder if the P.O. of the cam carriers may not have the cams right or something. He did say he had them apart ad blah, blah yadda, yadda. So i am curious how i can check to make sure the cams are right...

Take well lit pictures of the cams on each bank with the flats up, and I will let you know if they are correct.

couldnt get the best pics as i was in a hurry. The car wont actualy be to my shop for a couple weeks, so i cant go back and fourth to the garage like i used to (the car is like 10 miles away)

I could only get the the Rear one (rear in the fiero, under the UIM) As i didnt have time to piss with tryin to get the other plug wires off...

Dont know if that will give you anything to go on, was sure EXACTLY what you have to look at on the cams so...

I just dont understand why it would run would i timed it thinkin that the #2 cyl was actualy #4 but now that it is "right" it wont even start.

That doesn't look right....

It would appear that the motor is at TDC Compression/Power(because it can't possibly be at Exhaust/Intake with the intake fully closed) for #4, but that exhaust cam looks like it's already starting to open the exhaust valve... That can't be right... Can it?

God, I can never wrap my head around this 2-1 cam rotation business.

You have the cams installed correctly on that bank.

You also can't count :la: . The cylinders on this bank from left to right are 5, 3, 1. #4 is on the front bank...

Heh... guess I gotta re-time mine, then. I always thought #1 was front bank nearest crank pulley :thumbleft:

HUH???

What you have there is right. You would have to be sitting in the car looking at the engine out the rear window for the cyl. numbers to be right but...
The above pics are the rear bank (bank fursthest to the rear of the fiero). Cylinder 5, 3, 1
The car should be coming to my new shop soon. I have to sell my 3000GT to make room for it first...

It is. The crank pulley is to the right in the picture that was posted. We're looking at the REAR bank.

Notice how your picture says "FRONT OF CAR" at the bottom? :bootyshake:

Heh... some confusion here... I posted the pic to show I was WRONG, not that I thought I was still right :salute:

According to my pic, #1 is the REAR bank nearest to pulley.

uhm... My skills suck but this seems to be the cause of the confusion??
The engines obviously sit different, It depends if you are talking about the Rear bank in a FWD car or the rear bank in a Fiero... Also when in a fiero are you thinking rear as in when standing there looking/working on it or rear as in the bank closest to the rear of the fiero...

Solve your confusion, and point both cars in the same direction. :thumbleft:
