Alt charging at 14.7 volts
Is 14.7 volts too high for an alternator to be charging at? This is measured right at the battery terminals using a quality multimeter. No measurements off the highly accurate factory installed GM aux guages.

depends on who you ask, 13.5v-15v is industry standard.... i would say personally.... 13.5 is a little low.... i like to see 14-15.3 but thats me.... then again, im from california, colder temps would generally run a little lower.... maybe more like 13.5v-15v.... voltage is not as important as amperage.... if you can, load the battery with a tester, make sure your putting out at least 50A before it drops to 10v or below.... then your cool.... and make sure it recovers to 13.5v within a few seconds....
