if i could get straight cut 1st and 2nd i would have no concerns about keeping the helical 3rd and 4thcoinage wrote:stock for now... since there isnt any drop in ones so i need to get a custom one made
although on a side note, i am thinking about getting straight cut gears for the 4 speed :3some:
also need a beefed up differential to reliably run the 400hp i want to run through it daily.
wonderful thing about turbos is they aren't prone to the same torque shock loading as v8's (as long as you don't power shift with a heavy flywheel)
Not much to update... got the DM lower IM bolted on.. Triple disk clutch isn't going to work after all. it is too deep so we will be switching it out for a twin housing and all will be swell again, oh well

Doug's cage is bolted in, i need to modify the the pass side seat brackets to move the seat closer to the center console, to try and make room for the door bar.

Hopefully soon more updates as we are doing motor mounts, headers, and an A/W IC upper plenum

not much to report, just working on getting the motor put in the car to make the headers and y pipe. the valve covers i have are steel so i am taking tem to my welder to be cut up and have .5" welded in so the rockers clear.
in two weeks or so we should be starting the motor up, no turbo yet but to make sure the engine isnt toast and to break in the heads.
after that we will be making solid mounts, get the correct clutch in, building the 3" exhaust, wiring up the 7730 ecm. there is probably more
anyway i got my new rad today, Griffin 24x16.

GRI-1-25201-X, fits right in, just need to figure something out with the inlet/outlet as they are too large. 1 3/4 at the top and 1 1/2 at the bottom

The turbo has landed:
First off it is a Garrett T series Ball Bearing. T3/60-1... Dual ball bearing Garrett 60-1 compressor (T04S housing) with 4" inlet and 2.5" outlet and T3 flanged Turbine. Stage III turbine wheel with T31 4-bolt exhaust housing. Oil and water cooled. .84 turbine and .70 compressor with ported (anti-surge) shroud
I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Next up, headers and crossover

Nice I see it has the antisurge compressor housing. Makes it produce a mean ass whistle.
Why a 60-1 wheel though? Why not a 35R wheel? Much more efficient then the old school technology 60-1 wheel.
if you dont' mind me asking how much did you pay?
I got a precision SC6152E turbo with a .63 a/r exh housing. Full race has them for like $900 or so and its not ball bearing but it has the gt35R wheel.
