Canadian Dollar just passed the US Dollar

It was 1 US Dollar = 1.55 Canadian as Bush entered office.....

Old news, our dollar passed the US dollar last week.

Funny thing is, an average car still costs 30-35% more in Canada than the US... Theives.

I just ranacross the news. Actually I check it every so often, checked it a month ago and we were 1 US = 1.05 Canada. Checked it today and found the loonie higher.

Cars cost moe up there? Could it be an import tarrif? Give me an example of a car's cost.

The prices were fair when our dollar was only worth $0.66-0.70 US. Now that we are par prices have not adjusted yet so we are getting really ripped off.

I can go to the States, buy a $30k US car and save $10-15k over the asking price in Canada. There are lawsuits pending right now, Porsche is the first to move, they have dropped their car prices by 8% which still isn't enough.

If tere was a war between 1 or 2 or 3 small Imperialistic countries and the rest of teh world, the small countries would get their ass kicked. Don't believe me, look at WWII. The US is a little over 4% of the worlds population and at most 1/2 the military force. It wouldn't be a winner for anyone.

Sjit, what is the hassle with buying here then? Is it a pain? Tarrifs? Kinda like gas prices here, the increases lead and drops lag. Hope ya fix it.

But at the end of the day, the small imperialist countries would be flat and burning, and we'd be no different because the war never reached our soil. If there had to be a winner and a loser, we would definitely not be the latter.

Chrysler 300's start just under $30,000 (I think 28,000 is the starting price).

From GM Canada's website:

Pontiac G6:

(that is a huge price range!!)

I was referring to the US as a small, Imperialistic country. We represent 4-4 1/2% of the world's population and spend almost dollar for dollar what the rest of teh world does on military, but China has a military member for every man, woman and child here. If it were about nukes, we would all be dead, all in the world but a few small pockets. With a conventional war, we would eventually lose a war of attrition since we would be outmanned 20 to 1. Sorry, we have to behave somewhat or the world will cut us off financially, then militarily if we get stupid enough.

Looks like it's hit and miss, teh caddys and trucks are high, but eberything else is close. Fuck it, I might be up there b4 long. This countr is burning me out. I want to be part of a nation that I am proud of and Canada is a beautiful country.

Come to Alberta, we need foreign workers. There is a bit of an oil boom happening here. You could get a work visa easily.

I'm not ready yet, have that lawsuit that is probably sewing up quickly and a couple other loose ends. WHat does it pay to work the oil fields? Not really my line of work, but if need be I could do it.

When I was in Vegas a month ago I talked to a Canadian guy in teh sports book for a while. He was really cool, I think that is symbolic of Canadians in that the cut-throat mentality isn't there as it is here. I told him I was seriously considering moving there, but it's too cold. He said he was from Ontario and had a mild winter. We joked that in 5 years it would be a tropical climate with the global warming and all!!! I think there will be a massive trend forAmericans to move there and Canadians to shop here after the exchange rate goes what will be considered upside down a buck 50. I'm glad I'm poor, that way I'm not losing my ass on teh exchange rate, and that has to do with anywhere else in teh world.

It took Clinton 5 years to turn the debt around and flat line it, this trend of American dollar shrinking is rolling and won't turn easily. Our corporate-owned politicians are gonna have to decide to start manufacturing again soon or we'll be fucked here. We will have runaway inflation as we won't be able to buy foreign goods at teh same price. If China dumps the 1T+ of US investments the dollar will fall another 10-20 cents on that move alone...... but Congress will still give our first criminal president all the 150B gifts he asks for...... basically, the US is fucked.

i don't think you are accounting for the differences in technology.

look at the statistics of american deaths to insurgent deaths in this "war" we are stuck in...

americans kill something like 100 for each one that dies. thats the benefit of spending a lot of money on weapons, training and tactical comand gear along with unsurpased air support.
