I ain't flamin...
But do you honestly expect to be able to street-drive an 11s FWD car?
The "right suspension" is made up of so many compromises for straight-line performance and off-the-line traction that it won't corner, It'll have trouble braking, and in any kind of transitional driving (like say, slowing down for a corner) you'll be all over the place.
Not to mention the fuel requirements of that motor, plus the total lack of anything even remotely resembling throttle-response.
Slap your turbo kit on it, but keep the pressure low to the point where you can only just keep your street tires on the ground. Anything more is a waste of fuel and bearing material.
And before someone quips up that they've driven one on the street, let it be known that you can drive anything on a road. But it won't necessarily be safe, legal, practical, or comfortable.

speaking practically..
i have several friends with stage 2 turbo RSX's and some supercharged rsx's.. and they ALL complain about daily driving when it rains and having a horrible time keeping traction just driving around town

Heh...
Try a TDC Fiero with winter tires on rain...
It's like that "slippery surface" sign you see on bridges

I dunno if I'm buying it, man. The N* Fiero was a pussycat in the rain. I've held it on the edge of hydroplaning for hundreds of miles at a time.

My particular tires are beyond useless on wet pavement.
On ice and snow, however... Let's just say I get rear-ended a lot :p

First off, that would be an 11 second car at full boost...with the push of a few buttons it would be very streetable.. Plus for some reason you have the impression that this is my daily driver well its not. I drive my truck to work and the gti will never see a snow flake, so its not driven alot.
Second... he seems the handle that fwd golf pretty well.. keep in mind these are all suspension parts available to anyone, not just some race teams custom set up

It was sped up, but he didn't seem to have a problem handling any of the other cars...

interesting what racing slicks can do for a car
if you like FWD then by all means go for it - seems like a good solid kit.
its just personal experience that makes me refuse to increase the power of anything but RWD and AWD cars

From what I understand it's not terribly difficult to graft AWD into a basic Golf chassis... make a syncro or R32, whatever you want to call it.

You asked for an opinion, and you got one. Besides, looks like you've made up your mind.
If you wanted people to agree with you, why'd you ask for opinions?
They're like assholes. Mine stinks just like everyone elses. Except Earls... His probably smells of cherry lube.

Actually it's not. Pretty much the entire rear end needs to be replaced. Not just the suspension, but actual frame pieces, fuel tank, and the lower sheet metal. It appears putting an AWD setup into the new MKV will be much easier though.
As for me, I'm just waiting till the new R32 comes out.

Going awd would be about a $15,000 venture... it would be cheaper to sell mine and buy a R32 if i could.. You cant import them to canada because they dont meet the crash test ratings.
I know the video was sped up, i was just wanted to show that a fwd car can handle well.
I apprechiate everyones imput but i came on here to see if anyone can help me with some options on FI for my car, it really dosent matter to me if you dont think putting money into a gti is worth it because it apparently wont " handle well ". I love the car and want to get the most out of it that i can , fiero owners of all people should understand that.

You have to be realistic about the amount of power you want to make. I think 300hp on the VR6 would be more than enough, and you should be able to handle 300hp on stock internals just fine.
Wanting 450hp is a bit insane on a fwd car. Drivability and fuel economy will suffer. The thicker head gasket will mess your your quench area.
The supercharger upgrade sounds best to me. Keep it simple and keep it enjoyable.

If you're going to do the supercharger why not turbo it? More midrange, more linear power, more power with less boost and less enigne stress, and cheaper to begin with, even if it requires some fab.

Hell, you can get 300 crank HP N/A out of a VR6. No need to bother with a turbo for such low ambitions.

A turbo kit for $8k is rediculous. The supercharger kits are cheaper and have a more realistic power output.
I'm with Will. Build it for 300hp NA and make it a screamer. Buy or build a header, port and polish the head, some custom ground cams and you would be on your way to 300hp.
Its a pretty sweet engine, I have a hard time calling it a V-6. More like a staggered straight 6.
Building the motor NA would be cheaper on the VR6 due to only having 2 cams and the exhaust comming off one side of the engine only.

Okay well after alot of thinking i've desided to cancel my order and build my own system. Im going to go with a Gt35R turbo.it will be alot of head scratching but i'll probably beable to save a couple thousand doing it myself.. Dose anyone know what trim/Ar i should go with?

VR6in - I have a question that is kind of irrelevant to this thread but I'll ask it anyway. I had been looking at Subaru WRXs for a potential next car. But with gas prices going the way they are, I don't want to have to use premium gas. So I began looking at VR6 Golfs and my question is, do the VR6 motors require premium gas?
