Re: Adapter plate
So rotating it like Fieroguru does is entirely doable. I'm going with a 1/4" thick final plate, so this is just a template. The next step is to add 1/8" of washers, then test fit it into my white '84 Fiero. If it clears the front cross-beam of the cradle, then I have my final shape.
Re: Adapter plate
Aren't all adapter plates supposed to be like 2" thick?

Re: Adapter plate
Somehow you fail to be funny.
Re: Adapter plate
If you decide to rotate it, you can go further with the intermediate shaft than with a tripod sticking out the tranny. Since my 4.3/F40 car uses the stock fiero axle and hybrid tripod, I do need to clearance about 1/16" off the edge of the original starter pad.Atilla the Fun wrote:So rotating it like Fieroguru does is entirely doable. Here is where mine is after being rotated up about 1":

Re: Adapter plate
Thank you for adding that post. I'm thinking that rotating the trans might affect the internal lubrication of the F40, but maybe adding extra fluid would compensate without hurting anything. Your thoughts?
Re: Adapter plate
Raising the differential will probably put more fluid in the case half vs. in the diff when setting still... once everything is in motion the fluid will be flung about the inside... guess time will tell!

I did space it, but then I discovered something.

Re: Adapter plate
okay, need to leave that metal on the final plate. Anyway, here's the spacing I decided to go with for the test fitting:

Re: Adapter plate
probably closer to 0.300", but if that fits, then 1/4" will be easy.

Re: Adapter plate
Okay, progress. I got the C-10 out of the garage, swept the floor, and got the white '84 Fiero rolled in.

Cradle's out, so that's more progress.

The 2.0L and TH125c are off the cradle and out of the way.
