I should be able to have the heads/intake assembled on the car by the end of the week I think.

Here's my new intake manifold before paint:

Comparison between OEM and new piece by West Coast Fiero:

Image

It has been barely ported - basically just a gasket match, and it is not smoothed out more than a half-inch into the runner. :(

I had a couple cracks on it from the previous owner fixed, and it is ready to go. Next I need to get a custom TB cable bracket fabbed for it.

The new intake is so large, it tried to eat my OEM manifold:

Middle intake manifold ported, and it is now shipped off for paint:

If I am not happy with the way this intake setup performs I will be using my spare middle intake to create a new updated dual TB intake Mani.

Those poly locks are going to implode. They aren't designed to sit on the rocker. That is unless of course you have the balls still down in there for the polyl ocks to sit on. Then you are ok.

How do you put in a new lower intake manifold gasket? Do the pushrods have to come out?

The fulcrum "balls" *snicker* are still there.

No worries.

Not necessarily.

Some gaskets are designed to allow you to cut them where the pushrods are located so you do not have to tear apart the valve train. But some are not. Get a good gasket set and you should be OK.

Good to know, I have a new lower and darrel morse middle and upper I want to put it.

If the gasket isn't clearly marked to cut is there a risk of failure if I do cut it? We carry FelPro gaskets where I work.

In my experience, if they don't want you to cut it, it'll say right on it "Do Not Cut."

Mine had big embossed letters "C U T" 3 different spots on each gasket.

Just get the right ones. :)

Spent a bunch of time on the car today and got all of the accessories and brackets on the side of the engine, dizzy in, x-over pipe in, fuel rail, middle manifold, and basically everything except the top manifold.

I have a car show to be at this upcoming Wednesday so, this coming Tuesday is my absolute latest deadline for getting it running and driving! :)

Its probably going to run stupid rich, but will still run. I think 17's with a bumped up fuel pressure or 19's at stock fuel pressure would have been enough. Looking good though. Definately clean.

Also stuffed the 9" AEM wet filter behind the rear quarter panel scoop:

BWAHAHAHA! I got it to run and idle well now, but the fuel rail leaks and it has a high idle... Easy fixes! :afrocool:

maybe not... lol

It would idle at around 3K right off the bat, and both exhaust manifolds were glowing red hot after about 4.5 minutes & shooting fire out of the open x-over pipe... I could only let it idle for around 5 minutes before I got too scared and shut it down.

Fuel pressure is good up to around 44psi and I'm running the 24 lb/hr injectors.

It idles strong, but wrong.
