Anyone here driven an STS? I'm just wondering how quick they are. I saw the post where Jon said he pulled a car length on a GT from a roll.

I'm really interested in the 2000+ caddy's, cheaper to run with 87 octane.

I think the STS is a glorified Grand Am, they are so small on the inside.
I was thinking about getting one and did not like it at all. Rode like shit too. The V series is the same thing except with the V-8 in it.
I love our 01 Eldo nice and roomy still classy and Fast. They should've never stopped making them.

I don't know what you mean by the 87 octane I would never run that in mine, does nothing but ping, need 89 or 91. It's only .10 more a gallon not like it would break ya.

The whole point of the design change on the 2000+ Northstars was to make them able to run on 87 octane. Redesigned combustion chambers, and roller cams give them 300hp on regular, or so I thought?

Its not like I can't afford the gas, I really don't care about fuel economy as a whole, I have a work truck.

Surprised you mention the Seville's ride bad, I've always thought Cadillacs were known for their smoothness.

Wholly Shit
I wish I paid attention and knew what I was talking about.
Well crzyone I was referring to the CTS, I get mixed up on those damn letters, CTS, SRX, XLR etc.

Seville I like them, sorry I saw the letters and my dyslexia kicked in

I was wondering about that. But I fugured you being a Caddy guy that you 'd know. It was a lot easier when cars had names instead of alphabet soup.

do yourself the favor and jump behind a bus

My aunt has a Deville DTS. '00 or '02 can't remember. Been a while since I've driven a fiero, but I wouldn't doubt it would blow a stock fiero apart. And it doesn't slow down as much over 80.

Talk about smooth. I drove it 1200 miles from Florida to Indiana. I was playing with the MPH/KPH button. My cousin woke up and asked if I it was set on KPH. Nope, I was just cruising at about 110. Didnt' feel any different than 60mph. I had it up to 140 before backing off.

Come to think of it, there's no way a fiero is remotly close in performance. And that was a heavy deville. Not STS. Same 300hp motor though.

Been there done that :fart:

In my 92 Eldo with 4.9 I took on a TA and a Z28 on the expressway here, well kinda.
I was crusin home from Tampa and I passed the TA later I see some Headllights comming up fast, thought it was FHP.
Well it was a Z28 and the TA was in tow. I said WTf and stomped it and caught and passed them both. 115mph thought the pistons would come flying through the hood.

Now with the newed Eldo N* I had a joker in a 3000GT wanting to play.
So I turned off the traction control, nailed it and and he wasn't even close. When I had first gotten the newer Cadi I didn't realie the difference in power it is like night and day.
I usually laugh when one of the import guys rev up there engine next to me.
Actually my wife is the one who usually gets them wanting to race her.

I wouldn't even try to race a Fiero with cuz I wouldn't want to shame them that bad.

I like the Deville's too, we always get one as a loaner when ever the Eldo is in the shop and they have such a sweet ride.
Not sure if you have driven the SRX or not with the N* in it. Wholly Shit is that thing fast too. When I get rid of my TrailBlazer that is probably what I will get.

In the mean-time I keep thinking about the N* in the Fiero. If I was to do a swap I would go that route. I have to go to the shop where the mechanic put one in his tomorrow. I think I will ask how much he would charge to do the swap :afrocool:

I believe the STS has a speed limiter set at 150mph. Pretty damn quick for a bigger car.

My Intrepid will kill a stock fiero from 50mph+ and it is only a 2.7L dohc V-6 at 200hp. I raced my in laws 300M with the 250hp 3.5sohc motor and it killed my stock fiero.... A 300hp caddy should rape a fiero as well. And according to Jon, will kill a mustang gt from a roll, the 04s and older of course.

Me and Jon rented a 04 or 05 caddie Deville I think it was while he was here like a year and a half ago.

We went to the freeway and did a highway pull. I was spraying about a 30 shot and he was pulling me. Once the caddy was rolling it was stout.

Pertty damn funny. wish I got it on video. It would def be a different outcome now however

Also we rented a 03 intrepid with the 2.7 as well. Off the bottle I got raped from a roll. On the bottle(30 shot) I pulled about 4-5 cars from a 45-100 roll.

If you can find a cheap caddy I would add a 100 shot to it and call it a day. Run 13's in a 4k lb car.

I thought about buying an STS. They're nice cars and are pretty cheap used.

If you want a nice daily driver, go for it.

I like them alot, they look great. I would prefer an SRT-4 but my wife will be the primary driver of this car. I would like her to have a fwd auto but I want something with balls as well. I took her to the local Dodge dealership to look at the new chargers as well, they look 100% better in real life then in pictures.

Still shopping, but the STS is high on the list.
