So I drove my Fiero for the first time in four years...
...and it put a smile on my face. It's slow as hell and handles like shit compared to what I normally drive, but I'm still committed to eventually 'finishing' it. Not only that, in my short drive I got one of the "Is that a Ferrari!?" questions.
That said, I have kicked around the idea of trying to swing an '04-'05 Gallardo in a couple of years, which if I were to do would completely dismiss any point in keeping the Fiero.

Thought I'd throw up a picture that I took when I pulled it out of the garage:

Not to sound like too much of a dick but that thing looks busted. It has potential obviously hilut its got a long ways to go. Still a 2.8?

Isn't that the truth, I drive new cars that are better in every aspect but there's something about driving this old slow ass shitbox.

I like mid-engine handling... but a 355, 360 or Gallardo would certainly fill that niche.

Oh I know it does. No worries. I need to obviously finish up some body work stuff. After that I think it will look good once painted, lowered and different wheels/tires.Shaun41178(2) wrote:Not to sound like too much of a dick but that thing looks busted. Yeah, still the 2.8 with a bunch of wasted money in parts on it (headers, exhaust, plenum/TB, MSD, nitrous kit you sold me, etc.

I actually drove the Fiero, my SRT8 Jeep and CTS-V pretty much back to back. A lot of differences there.jelly2m81 wrote:Unsafe At Any Speed wrote:...and it put a smile on my face. It's slow as hell and handles like shit compared to what I normally drive

Yeah, I was looking and doing research on Gallardo's again yesterday (way more affordable maintenance wise in comparison to the prancing horses). The Dark Side of Will wrote:I like mid-engine handling... but a 355, 360 or Gallardo would certainly fill that niche.

Re: So I drove my Fiero for the first time in four years...
Every V8 Ferrari (and most of the 12's) from the 308 to the 360 has timing belts. In the 348, 355 and 360, a timing belt replacement is an engine-out service (it might be on the 308 & 328, too, but I don't care about those powertrains)
Gallardo has, what, 4 gallon oil changes?

Not an expert and still would need to do more research, but I've seen "$600 annually and $5k every 4-5 years" a few different places.
