Daydream budget

So here's the deal. You win the lottery/rich uncle kicks it/find a sugar daddy or momma.

You find yourself in possession of a $15kUSD cheque.

At the same time you burst a blood vessel in your brain, and the resulting dementia creates a paranoid fantasy that you MUST spend it on the Fiero you already own.

What would YOU do with the money?

-You can't buy another car (or the chittering demons will eat you)
-You can't pay someone else to work on it (or your family will die)
-You can't put a rebody on it (or the world will burn in eternal flames)

well if i were you i'd be tempted to do a 3800 turbo, complete suspension overhaul, and spend the rest on wheels and tires

Oh, I didn't get shit...

Just that I like seeing "what if" lottery threads, except that they usually get pretty wild and far-fetched.

This way, there are constraints (budget, madness). I find this kind of discussion a lot more enlightening, as well as having results that are actually FEASIBLE, instead of out in the far-reaches of improbable. :thumbleft:

I think I'd try to build a tube frame fiero with the original body. maybe aim for 2000lbs. +go fast engine

I think that I would do the tube frame, with a bored, destroked N* and longitudinal six speed. The engine would be built with titanium rods and a billet crank, custom ground camshafts (I would have the money to design and machine a system like Honda's VTEC), titanium valve retainers, girdled main caps, dry sump, twin turbochargers with inconel headers, all aluminum suspension components, including custom spindles, with huge lightweight brakes and 6/4 piston calipers front/rear, magnesium wheels, complete carbon fiber underbody and diffuser, with the fastback widebody kit....i dunno, a custom CF interior (dash, console, door panels) and leather baseball-stitched interior.

That's about all I can think of. Oh and a MOTEC ECU to take care of bidness.

I would finish my 3.4 swap already. With ITBs. And cams. And a fully built block. Then it'd be lowered, pretty standard 1, maybe 2" drop with decent components. New rims, 18x8 and 17x7.5 would work. Hood scoop, decklid scoop, side scoops, and some window tint and I'd be done. Not too much to make me happy :thumbleft:

I'd rebuild the steering, suspension and brakes with all that '88 factory and aftermarket good stuff (maybe enough to pull 1.17g's on the G-tech). Then I'd line up the factory body panels after I installed a fiberglass front clip with a slightly deeper factory looking chin spoiler and an inverted cowl hood for cooling, then sand it down to the plastic and paint it deep, gloss black (or just polish the plastic, haha). It would have all new body colored trim, too. :D The windows would be tinted decently, and the sunroof wouldn't leak (okay, it doesn't anyway but it sounded good). The taillights would be some kind of dual round red lenses slightly hidden behind new factory tinted covers. I'd throw on some nice looking 5-spoke 17's that weigh 12.1lbs each, with 275's on the clearanced rear and 245's on the front. It would be lowered an inch or two.

I don't know what kind of interior I'd put in it, but that gaudy awful factory TV set dash has to go. Then it would have an in-dash DVD player with two shallow box 8's behind the seats and component speakers somewhere.

Once it was all uber-sweet like that, I'd ditch the 2P8 and install a 34hundred with rods and pistons and all that crap, with ported heads and a custom cam and all that crap, with a custom intake mani, headers, exhaust and all that crap, ran off of some kind of a decent tunable GM computer and all that crap. Then it would have a big turbo and all that crap, with a medium sized sidemount IC and all that crap. It would also run on E85 and throw out less emmisions than your sister's hybrid Civic, and you guessed it... all that crap.

This is my dream. Yay. I have no idea if it would be anywhere around 15k, but I sure hope the chittering demons don't eat me.

You know, I wanted the same thing about 10 years ago when I was 14. The difference now? I know I'll never have it.

That is all.

Roger that. My brain is half not working tonight so I didn't feel like remembering to figure out the correct size and just threw numbers out there, which is why I'm unspecific on most of it, haha.
You have no idea how long it took me to type all that halfway coherently.

I figured you'd say something bad about the tinted windows too. It doesn't matter though, it won't ever be more than a 223 thousand mile wet noodle on wheels.

That burst blood vessel in my brain sure does hurt.

-Tubular suspension.
-HALTEC driven Northstar sitting beside a straight-cut 4.10 4spd
-Chopped trunk to fit two of the biggest mufflers ever seen(but more importantly, never heard).
-TSW Blade wheels (Oh, I'd find a pair) powder coated graphite metallic
-Dark-ass bronze paint job with only about 15 clear layers
-Meesta-Mike Ledder inerior

I figure I'm at the top end of 15k us

Imagine a Fiero with that sexy gearbox whine, and NOTHING but the valvetrain singing to you when the revs climb...

*drool*

I'd put an LS1 in it with a beefed up gearbox and a nice suspension...oh wait, I'm already doing that.......

This car...
http://www.fiero.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/057773.html (copy and paste)
...with a Northstar and a 6 speed.

And yes I would have to contract out the cradle modding, since I can't weld. (Rules are made to be broken. Deal with it.)
Sorry... a piddly 15K wouldn't allow me to quit working so that I had enough time to learn to weld. 15 Mil? No prob. :thumbleft:

I'd lower it a bit more. Put poly in the suspension. Konis or KYBs.
Install an 88 Firebird dash. (Don't laugh... I had an 88 Firebird Formula. It was, without question, the best instrumentation I ever had in a car.)
And the wiring would probably be a cakewalk.
Maybe find the CD headunit of my wet dreams. One with an iPod interface and all that kwrap. Amps and sub(s). Good ones. Maybe XM and nav. No fucking video, though.
Might do everything but the Northstar, anyway.

And I'd drive the snot out of it.

Any money left over would be for lawyers, fines and legal fees. (See the previous line.)

well according to the guy from finland with the 500hp turbo 2.8 (bored to 3.0) it took 15Kusd to get his car to where it is -- so maybe i'd do that

$15k to spend over what I have already?

Tubular suspension
GT42R turbo
NSX transmission

Thats around $15k if done properly. A reliable 500hp turbo N* :thumbleft:

Hey sonic you already have a dream build thread on Old Europe. Stick to that one if you could. THanks
