I am interested in purchasing a good 282 Getrag for my car. I have a 3800/5 Speed Getrag with a broken case from not using a dog bone on the engine conversion. In addition to the Getrag, I need the rear transaxle bracket the mounts the transaxle to the mount on the rear side of the transaxle. That twisted under the torque and is deformed. I think it would be best to start over with a new bracket as well.

I am in the Tampa, Florida.

I know you can get new brackets from rodney dickman. They are stronger and thicker then the stock gm stuff from what I have seen and read.

www.rodneydickman.com I think

Thanks for the information, I always forget about Rodney. He is the one who told me to post on this site for the Getrag. Anyway, I ordered the bracket set, now I just need the transaxle and I will be back on the road.

Dave

The last time I was looking around in a junkyard, FWD Getrags were common and cheap. The Fiero Getrags are getting rare so if you can't find one you can use the FWD unit with Rodney's adaptors.

Doug are you the guy who built the custom Fiero frame Don Ostergard just purchased?

Your name sound familiar to me.

Nope. I build roll bars and cages for Fieros, though, so if you know anybody that has one it likely came from me.
