Does anyone know how to take the heater/defroster flap actuater? I undid the 2 bolts but it looks like I have to take the ducting apart to get the arms off.

My heater/ defroster flap is wont change position I put in a different switch but that didnt help then I looked at the accuator arm and its not moving. I hate to start ripping apart the duct work if someone else has done it before.

The fiero uses a stupid electric motor to change the postion of the flap (atleast on an 87) I would put money on that before disassembling the ductwork. The motor has quite a few wires going to it, for the different positions, and may have just shit the bed on you. I would pull it off the end of the arm, (remove a c-clip I believe) and try the switch, if the switch activates the motor then you are all set to go ahead and find the problem with the damper, but I bet you the motor dosent move at all. A replacement part should not be to hard to find. Check
www.kickhill.com (call him) or some other used fiero parts place.
Its called: actuator, mode electric in the parts book. The GM part number is 3052051.
They also list a part for an air actuator, which your car may have, not sure if or when they crossed over.
The diagram can be found on fieronews.net a direct download link is here:
