Converting to 5x115 in the rear of 88

So I have been looking at a lot of different rims and was thinking about trying to convert the rear to 5x115 so that I could use the 16x8 rims from a grand prix. I figure I need at least 8 inches in width to run a 245 or larger series tire. I know that it won't be easy since the spindle is completely different. I found a post on the "other" forum where there are pic of someone who supposedly put grand am wheel bearings on the 88 rear. http://www.fiero.com/forum/Archives/Arch ... 52920.html
Would this method work??
Also I was wondering if I could possibly press in the outer half of a 5x115 bearing onto the fiero bearing. My father works at a machine shop and said that he could remove the portion of the bearing with the studs on it.
If I can't figure out how to make it work, then I might end up buying the rots slipsteam rims where I could get 17x8.5in rims for the rear and 16x7 for the front.
