We did it. We broke 1000 members. GO RFT!!

We are goign to surpass Fagland shortly with our number of members. Better look out. A new #1 is about to be declared

dude like 300 of those are spammers.

I watched the numbers go up.

some of them are from people on .nl as well that register and just watch shit over here

I really don't know what's been going on the last couple months... but my forum was overrun by spammers as well... where the fuck did they get these bots that invade forums, and why are they crawling out of the woodwork all the sudden?

I have a phpbb forum as well, and I have zero spammers. I think something is wrong here... My forum only has like 80 members, but no spammers.

Would anybody agree that the bots are here because the operators here wanted it?

Think about it. Bots/spammers come, they make posts, posts get MOVED to Earlville. Note that they DO NOT get deleted. The bots/spammers are never banned either. As a result of this, the userlist grows rapidly, post counts go higher, and the google searches that bring up RFT grow. It isn't rocket science, RFT got those on purpose. It's the same thing that Cliffy does over at Neverland--exagerrating the numbers.

The spam posts/threads get moved to the bathhouse so I have a record of which IPs posted spam and when.

yes. bigger numbers, so we can charge more for advertising space. makes perfect sense. we all know, there are only 10 active people here. how much is ad space going for on this high traffic, overflowing forum?

I had a bunch of spammers on my forum too. I was up to 500 members when I had the big crash of 06 and I have been very careful with my member list since then. I have 210 members know that I know are not spam bots. :thumbleft: I actually had two or three that managed to get on and post but I deleted them as soon as I found them. I have a no ban policy for regular members, but spammers get deleted right away.

I say go straight to IP banning of the spammers, or if they are true bots, which it seems according to the posts and names, we should find a program to end bots. Besides the google crawlers that come to make the website appear on google, I think bots should be destroyed and terminated... that's the same thing :scratch: anyways GO RFT!!! :thumbleft:
