Car insurance amazes me

Well I needed to get my Fiero insured again so I decided to shop for car insurance. I have been a State Farm customer for the past 7 years (Since I was 19). I have never had an accident so I can't really make an opinon about their service. Prices on the other hand, I felt was pretty high.
So the long story short of it is that I switched to Progressive, increased my liability from 100/300 to 250/500, added my Fiero and a couple other small changes and I am now paying $26 LESS per month that what I was paying!
One thing that made me feel great is that they showed how they used my credit report and I had scored better than 98% of their customers. So needless to say, I am happy about the switch, and hopefully, like with State Farm, I will never have to know what their handling of claims is like.

Hah. It was because of my accident, wasn't it. Yeah, Progressive kicks ass. :salute:
How much are you paying anyway? FWIW my insurance actually went down after my accident - by 2 cents a month, but down none the less. :thumbleft:

Let's see $78/month for one car... so two cars that would be 2*$78 which is, oh hey, roughly 150/mo. You can't do math? He's paying as much as you are. Or am I inferring an italicized "I" in "thought I was getting screwed" and there isnt one?

I've had Progressive for 7 years now, and have had a few claims. No matter what when you get in an accident, have Progressive handle your claim if they are your insurer, not the other guy. I've only had one unpeasant experience, dealing with a claims rep who shuffled my paperwork to the bottem of her stack for a bit longer then I deemed necessary. Also they counte an accident where I got rear ended as being my fault, and increased my premiums. It was over a year before I discovered it, but once I brought it to their attention they were quick to correct it and credit our account. Compared to horror stories from other companies, it was no problem.

I have 3 cars insured:
Jetta-full comprehensive and collision $500 deductables
Mustang and Fiero are both liability.
I now pay $170/month for the three. 26 years old, clean driving record.

I had progressive, I never will again, I had insurance on my srt-4 I was paying 650 dollars a month for full covrage on my srt-4. I got hit, I called progressive second I was hit and they said they would take care of it.
get a call back few days later saying my claim is denyed, I asked why? they said I had not paid. I had autodraft on where each month they take my money out of my account. automaticly.
well for some reason they did not remove the money. I had well over 3 thousand in the account. no holds, nothing on it, I contacted the bank they said no one ever tried to remove any money, progressive never attempted to take out the 650 for insurance that month. I never got a note from progressive saying my service was cancled, I never got a phone call, I never got anything, everything was fine.
I called progressive back, sent them the info, from my bank, even had them call and talk directly to my bank, they said it must have been in internal error and would investiagte it, and untell it was solved my car could not be fixed. called em every week for 3 months, same thing, still investigating it. at the end of the 3 months, the other insurance company contacted me and said I had to pay for the lady who hit me bumper, and that my claim was denyed, I called progressive and they said that they denied my claim, i asked why, they said due to non payment, I told them i was on autodraft and they where supposed to take the payment out, they said they where aware of that, and do not have a explination as to why it was not removed, but that my claim was still denied.
found out looking onlin that progressive doesn't cover alot of claims it should, and gets out of any they can, to keep there insurance prices lower, there is also a class action lawsuit against them for unpaid claims.
fuck progressive
my girlfriends sister works for an insurance company, that can get all typs of car insurance, she said the worst two are mercury and progressive, and that the best one, is triple A. she has seen alot of bullshit go on with progressive and mercury. and while triple A costs more, well you get what you pay for.

Any insurance company that says I'm 0% responsible for my car spinning out on the freeway and having some jackass slam into me is A-OK in my book. :thumbleft:

I have progressive, clean driving record, with the minimum amount of liablity. I think I pay around $35/mth.
Never had to file a claim with them though so not sure if I woudl get screwed or not.

I have liberty mutual, and pay about $150 a month for my 89 Honda, even with a good driving record. Mass insurance laws are pretty much the suck :la:

I used to be on my parents policy before I turned 18. I think it was State Farm. And even with multi-car and everything, the Fiero cost me $125 a month. When I got my Blazer I switched to Geico and now pay about $80 a month for the Fiero and Blazer. Liability only. I'll probably switch to USAA soon though.

You guys are lucky you live in middle of nowhere-ville. My fiance's car in Baltimore city was $205 a month, its a newer Altima V6 and she has no tickets/1 accident. Using my address, only a few miles over the city line, dropped it to around $110/month. Still high but not as bad as it was.
