Different kind of phaser. :lamer:p8ntman442 wrote:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... Zureks.svg
Are you making a pathetic claim to nerdship?
Any self-respecting nerd would know that nerd isn't a setting for a phaser.

I thought the trailer looked awful. It immediately brought to mind a mix of movies like the recent Transformers, Jumper, Twilight, or Eagle Eye. WTF? Since when is Star Trek supposed to be about young adult drama and shit?
I was hoping that it's just another case of a good movie made to look that way just in the trailer...... but then I remembered what other things Bad Robot Productions is responsible for..
Then I looked at what the writers have been responsible for...
:cussing: It's just another case of screwing up an awesome franchise by adapting it for a general audience.

The Star Trek franchise lost its credibility a long time ago. I haven't bothered to see a Star Trek movie since Generations.
A Star Trek movie website is still a movie website. I don't know why I was expecting it to be anything but a poorly executed overblown collection of useless fluff. When the "story" is 5 lines long, you know it's gong to be bad.
I'll probably still see it because it looks different than the other recent efforts, but I don't have high hopes.

First Contact was, in my opinion, the best post-Shatner movie, though Nemesis was pretty good, too.DiggityBiggity wrote:I really enjoyed First Contact... but that's just me.
I agree with Series, though now I have to go look up Bad Robot and the writers to see what he's talking about.

Good god, Cloverfield and Joyride are the only movies Bad Robot has done? That doesn't bode well. And they make Lost, Alias and Fringe, three shows I don't watch. Awesome.
As for the writers, we have the guys who wrote Mission Impossible III, Transformers, The Legend of Zorro, and some crappy TV shows.
Yeah, this movie is gonna be a winner.

Actually, now that you mention it, I have seen First Contact. It wasn't bad, but I thought that the idea of a Borg queen who acted as a sucubus for Data was silly. The whole point of the Borg was that the collective consciousness structure made them extremely alien and highly capable. Introducing a queen removes a good bit of both attributes.DiggityBiggity wrote:I really enjoyed First Contact... but that's just me.
