New door, or replace the panel, mirror, and window?

Someone backed into my Fiero the other day, bending the mirror into the window, shattering the glass, then continuing into the plastic. The plastic split and the lock broke.

Noticing how much of a pain it was just getting the mirror off, and I can't imagine putting a new window in will be easy, I think I'll just buy a whole new door.

The worst part is I'm gonna be deployed with the army to Afghanistan for a year, starting next week!

Fiero parts are cheap, I'd do a whole door. That kind of hit could have bent the door frame anyways.

I'd just replace the door also. Heres is what my GT looked like after a similar incident.


I caught the mirror when it fell into the cabin with me. The window was down at the time so it didn't break. but the top of the doorframe was bent in where the mirror was so I couldn't roll it up.

I hope I can either get money to have this repaired or find a used door. I wonder how you're supposed to install/remove that damn mirror, what a pain!

Found a window, mirror housing, and door skin while I was on leave back in April. I thought I was going to smash the window just getting it out of the junkyard car! I broke the stops so now I need those. Door frame itself is just fine.

I got the new/used window installed. A shop did it for me free of charge. It's funny how the driver side window uses rivets, while I discovered that the passenger side window is held in by screws/nuts! Weird.

The damn mirror I got doesn't have one of the two studs! I don't know how I missed that when I removed it from the junkyard car. Not only that, the mechanical mirror screw holes don't line up with the holes for the electric motor. (two out of three.) So I'm stuck with the shite $10 plastic mirror from O'Reilleys (is it weird that they have mirrors when napa and uatozone do not?)

I got new felts/seals/dew wipes/whatever installed on both doors too

I'm working on repairing the old door skin. I used some fiberglass on the backside near the handle where it was cracked. I got that bit above the mirror glued in with some fiberglass, but what a pain that was. I'll probably get this plastic weld crap they have at autozone sometime this next week or two ( http://www.itwconsumer.com/catalog.aspx?prodID=49 ) I have no idea what kind of plastic the skins are made from. (Obviously the books say "reaction injection molded" but that doesn't tell me what kind of plastic it actually is.) I'll probably use that on the bumper as well which got cracked real good at some other point in history.
