New TV show that I'm going to be on
Setup trailer
If that doesn't work, go to http://www.builtbythugs.com and click on the Trailers link, then choose the Setup Trailer. I'm in there twice - once voice only "we're playing for $100,000 if we win, second place is zero," and once with my ugly mug, too (very end of the trailer). The show will be on Speed channel starting in April.
Will, this is why I haven't replied to your email yet - haven't been home for three weeks. Series8217, this is why I'm in Santa Monica. I'll still be here for a couple more days. If you want to get together Wednesday night or Thursday (day or night) that'll probably work for me. Give me a call. Phone number is below.

It looks like some or more of the episodes have already been filmed, can you give us any info on that or did they make you sign a NDA?
I remember seeing the premiere episode of 24 being filmed in Chatsworth (the scene when they cuff sutherland to the grate in the flood channel. I didn't even realize what it was when I saw it. Just saw a couple of guys down there talking on a cell phone, and a couple of camera cranes. If I had looked over the bridge further I probably would have seen sutherland.

The NDA says I can't say anything until the final episode airs, and there's a $1,000,000 penalty. What I can say is that there is some great footage and if it's put together right this could be a very good show.
I believe the premier episode is going to air on Speed channel on April 18 at 8pm eastern time.

I hope you have production pictures that we can see eventually. That'll be cool. I don't watch much if any tv.Chase Race wrote:The NDA says I can't say anything until the final episode airs, and there's a $1,000,000 penalty. It's ironic, but I hardly ever watch TV either. I'll have to go to a friend's house to watch this show.Starlite528 wrote:I don't watch much if any tv.

Trailer 3
It's not up on the other website yet.
I'm not in this one, but my driver is. Everyone, meet Ron Bauer. Ron is a local autocrosser and ex-Spec Miata racer. Ron has two Solo II National Championships, he raced Spec Miata for a couple years, and he's an Evolution Driving school instructor.
That's Ron 0:40 into the trailer, and he shows up another time, too. Our car is in there a few times, but I'm not going to tell you which car it is.

A bunch of friends and racers got together to watch it. It was pretty fun.

I've been wondering what they were going to put together into a show. I don't know if I'd say that I was disappointed, as it seemed like a potentially decent show and if were into watching TV I might watch this show. But it wasn't as good on TV as it was in person. That's not just because I was there so of course everything was better live, but because I think there was a real sense of urgency, of pressure, of anxiety, and of excitement during the few days that were shown in tonight's episode, that wasn't captured in the show. Yes, the drama stuff you saw on TV tonight did actually happen, but that wasn't the overriding thing. It was just normal life stuff at the time. When you suck it out of context and put a close up of a face on TV it looks like a big deal, but the real big deal was the intensity, the "how good are these other guys," the "when do we get to race," the "what's going to happen next," and that didn't seem to come across.
I dunno. Anybody else watch it? What did you think? Honest opinions only, please, and that includes if you thought it sucked and aren't planning on watching any more.
The stuff involving the other competitors was all new to us so that was cool to see. I didn't know about TK's wife and unborn daughter dieing, and didn't know as much about Ryan's (the other Ryan) mom.

Yeah, a little bit of drama, and definitely some marketing, but advertising is what pays the bills in racing, right? The drama, well, that's hard for me to put a finger on. I'll try.stimpy wrote:That kid Ryan is such a little bitch!
Seems like a little bit of "Real World" drama with some car related informercials, and maybe we'll see some racing next week.

Dude, pay attention. The prize isn't a car, the prize is 100 large and a chance to test with GM for a ride in the 2008 Rolex 24.stimpy wrote:You guys totally won that car, didn't you?

I saw it last weekend and realized that you had mentioned it. It was pretty good except the racing part got a little monotonous. First clock wise the counter clock wise. It looked like the episode from this weekend would have been interesting as it was going to be on the big track. I have to check my TIVO to see if it recorded as I was in Acapulco, Mexico this weekend and missed a bunch of shows.

I got a few. Photos weren't allowed while the show was filming ("...or you're going home!") so I didn't take any. The day of the last race, however, I brought my camera to the track and took some pictures when it was all done. What were they going to do, send me home?Starlite528 wrote:I hope you have production pictures that we can see eventually. That'll be cool.
I also got some pics of our infamous tequila night, some of tearing down the race center, some of the wrap party, and some miscellaneous others.
They are now up on the new and improved Chase Race website. Go to www.chaserace.com and click on the race photos link.
