Fiero Wire Swap

Post by DINSTAAR »

So I am looking for opinions/thoughts regarding swapping the entire Fiero Harness for one out of a 91 deville during the 4.9 swap vs. keeping the fiero harness and building/buying a harness to connect the engine. I am thinking it would be just as easy if not easier to blend the headlight circuit into the deville harness then it would be to blend the 4.9 engine harness into the fiero wiring. I have a 1985 GT so it would also mean that the entire wiring would end up being 6 years newer and maybe a little less prone to breakage. Ok so now to y'all. Bring it on.

Alot of wire lengthening would be in order to do that. Plus lots of troubleshooting.

That is about the same as getting a 2.8L V6 harness to work with the Caddy V8. You can do it, but alot of work. Besides, it isnt hard to splice the Caddy engine harness into the Fiero body wiring.

Well as far as can think right now the only fiero related circuit I would need is the pop up lights and then blend the caddy harness into the fiero instrument cluster. My biggest thing is that I would like to keep the digital fuel pod and the digital climate control from the deville. The only caddy circuit I wouldn't need would be the electronic leveling system. I keep contemplating this because I have the entire caddy sitting in my garage right now and I need to figure out what I am going to keep from it before calling the wrecker for it.

would be interesting - that harness has ABS requirement? or would you eliminate that too?

That will be a LOT of wiring work. I think Rickady did something similar for his car with Shortstar swap.
