Finally starting my build up

Post by teamhavok2 »

I recently picked up a new fiero from a kid that was nickled and dimed out. Put in less than 20 bucks in gaskets, glue, and free connector pieces from the local pick'n'save (bring a hot friend and it's free). I've got a slight idle stumble when sitting, but i'll find that vacuume leak. So i've been driving around in my 86 GT and i get crap from my girlfriend all the time about how the outside is ok and the inside looks like 80's crap. So I've got the green light to tear it up. I've got a friend hooking me up with nogahide and I'll be cutting templates of the originall seats in the next 2 weeks. I plan on hand sewing these so it has more of a european look to it. I have convinced my girlfriend to do a road trip with me some time close to december so she has demanded a back massage thing sewn under the padding (more work for something that i don't think she'll use). But the big question i have is with the dash. I've seen the dash from the fire bird in the fiero (stay alive) and didn't like it. I was thinking of just molding the dash together and looking for a more udated looking gauges. Any ideas on how i might be able to pull this off? I was thinking of fiber glassing it to a more round and solid piece look. I have a few ideas that i'll be adding but really am still very open on the dash.

I have yet to see an interior that made the car look better. Its a Fiero, and thats what the interior looked like, so why change it. Tell the wifey to stuff it if she dosent like the interior. Spend the money on go fast mods. Take the passenger seat out for weight savings and give her a milk crate, sooner or later you can put the seat back in and she will be more grateful than any back massager would ever make her.

I've found one that i'm thinking will be the template of what i want mine to look like. www.newfield.nl it's under fore fiero's and then vanderheof. I think that dash style will be nice.

I've been thinking of swapping in a Honda interior over the winter, much nicer looking than the Fiero one.

I also don't like the Fiero interior all that much, though if I was to replace it I definitely don't want it to look like a hack job.

Man, do you know how cute those Nawgas are? If you saw one in person, you'd never want to use Nawgahide again.

You'd better be dam good with a needle and thread if you want the seats to look decent when you're done. Have you considered skins from Mr. Mikes? http://www.mrmikes.com/fierohome.htm

The only replacement dashes I haven't hated in a Fiero so far are the Grand Am, Camaro and 3000GT.

The 3S dashes are the way to go. That's what I plan on using in my car once I get to the interior (hopefully this winter once I'm finally done with training).

Edit: 3S=3000GT/Stealth

The 240sx has a dash that has been installed in Fieros. Also Grand Am dashes. There is a guy (Amida) on kitcar.com who does Ferrari interiors that are great and expensive.

i've got a set of integra seats in mine right now. had to cut rail adaptors and drill the rivets off of the integra rails. but after that they work correctly and are really comfortable. only complaint is since i'm 6'4 i lose just a tad too much headroom. so i'm selling them to put fiero seats back in. 100$ and they are yours.

ha ha there was a local radio that was talking about the naga's people were calling in left and right about how they were stomping them out. Just proves people are really stupid. I'm not too bad with a needle and am going to do a crap load of prep work so it will be less about how good I am with the needle and more of following the pattern. I'll have to make a trip down to the junk yard to check on those dash thanks for the heads up. I'll list up the seats as soon as i have them done. Oh and thanks for the offer on the kohburn but i'm also 6'4 so i'd be buying your problem.

I was looking at that dash kit last night and although it looks pretty good It still has no cup holders ha ha. I was looking at a few 97+ grand am and grand prix dashes at the yard and i think i like the 98 grand am. They have one in perfect condition with black. might go good with my charcole naga. it seems the only way i'm going to get more room in my fiero is to staple some pillows down ha ha. Fiero seats may not be eye candy stock but i'm hoping to bring them out with the grey naga
